Kishu Dansu

Wakayama prefecture has been known for tansu, or chests of drawers, since the Edo period (1600-1868) when the regions was known as Kishu. Made only of paulownia wood using long-standing techniques, these exquisite works have become the quintessential expression of the Japanese tansu.
