Kyo Hanga

It is said that the technique of wood printing was introduced to Japan in the Nara period (710-794).
Kyo print has been used in various fields of each historical period, such as for art publications, cut-in illustrations, sample books of dyeing and weaving, and folding and round fans.
A forcefulness which cannot be expressed with other printing methods, depth, and its high value as a craftwork are characteristic of Kyo print.
