Otsu-e

Otsu-e is a type of folk painting which has been handed down for 350 years.
It is said that the first Otsu-e was painted at the request of travelers who stayed at the inns of Tokaido-Otsu.
Using seven different colors, simple and freely drawn lines are characteristic of this kind of painting.
There are quite a few varieties Such as paintings of beautiful women, warriors, birds and beasts as well as Buddhist paintings, which are all full of satire and humor.
