Yokkaichi Banko-yaki Pottery

Banko-yaki is said to have originated during the Tenmon period, The name, Banko, is believed to have come from this account; the founder put the seal "Banko Fueki", (which means eternity), for his work, wishing that it should be handed down forever.
Among the well-known examples are teapots called Shudei (red pottery) and Shidei (purple pottery), made using clay with a high iron content.
